Metabolic pathway for synthesizing glucaric acid was constructed in Saccharomyces cerevisiae by co-expression of myo-inositol oxygenase encoded by miox4 from Arabidopsis thaliana and uronate dehydrogenase encoded by udh from Pseudomonas syringae. The yield of glucaric acid reached 3.8 g/L, the highest yield that had been ever reported in S. cerevisiae. This mehod could be widely used in metablic engineering of S. cerevisiae.
