Abstract

To investigate the effect of different kinds of fertilizer on the δ15N value of vegetable, tomatoes were planted with different nitrogen fertilizers in the winter of 2011 and summer of 2012.The δ15N values of plants, fruits, soils and fertilizers were analyzed. Results showed that the difference of δ15N values among the samples with the same fertilization was not significance in different years. The δ15N values in leaves and stems were always higher than in fruits. This study demonstrated that the δ15N value can be an important indicator to trace the chemical nitrogen fertilizers applied during the stage of growth. This provides theoretical and technological supports to distinguish between organic and conventional vegetable.
