In this study, a strain of Limosilactobacillus fermentum WHH2438 was isolated and identified from Xinjiang yogurt.The antioxidant properties, intestinal barrier function, tolerance and adhesion of the WHH2438 were evaluated in vitro, using the Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG as a control.Subsequently, C57BL/6 J mice were used as experimental subjects, and a chronic alcohol-induced liver injury model was established using liquid alcohol feed to validate the strain's ability to alleviate alcohol-induced liver damage.Results showed that the ability of Limosilactobacillus fermentum to eliminate DPPH and Hydroxyl radical was significantly better than that of LGG, and it also had excellent ability to protect intestinal cells and intestinal barrier.Through the dosage potency test, the high-dose group and inactivated group of the WHH2438 strain showed a significant decrease in serum glutamic-pyruvic transaminase (GPT) and glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase(GOT) compared to the model group.Additionally, liver triglycerides and reduced glutathione (GSH) decreased and approached the control group, indicating an overall significant improvement.This suggested that the strain reduced alcohol-induced oxidative damage to the liver, delayed the formation of alcoholic fatty liver, and possessed a good ability to alleviate alcohol-induced liver injury.In conclusion, Limosilactobacillus fermentum WHH2438 has a good ability of alleviating chronic alcohol-induced liver injury, and it exhibits favorable strain characteristics, successfully reaches the intestine, adheres to intestinal epithelial cells, and exerts probiotic effects.
