Abstract

Macroporous adsorption resin was used for the enrichment of low bitter and low astringent catechins from green tea polyphenol.ADS-17 was selected from nine macroporous adsorption resin by testing the ratio of EGC/ EGCG in the solution of static adsorption and elution, investigating the influences of concentration of green tea polyphenol solution(TP) and adsorption time on the adsorption capability of the tested resin. The dynamic sorption date and alcohol gradient elution date of the selected resin were also investigated. The saturated adsorption capacity of ADS-17 for EGC was 15.44 mg/g,the content of EGC in final product was 43.84 %,which was 7 times higher than the initial extract of 6.22 % of EGC.The proportion of EGC in total catechins was 64.57 %,which replaced EGCG and became the major flavor compound. The proposed method in this paper is simple and feasible for the enrichment of EGC,which is the major compound of low bitter and low astringent catenhins. The method has great potential for industrial application.
