Potato starch-based composite films were obtained by casting using potato starch, pullulan, gelatin as film-forming material, glycerol as plasticizer, calcium chloride as cross-linking agent. The effects of the contents of thymol and clove oil on the properties of composite films were investigated. The results showed that thymol and clove oil could affect the mechanical properties of the composite films significantly, increase the water vapor permeability and water-solubility of the composite films, and reduce the light transmission rate of the composite films.Composite films containing antimicrobial agents had strong inhibitory effect on E.coli and Staphylococcus aureus, the antimicrobial effect of the composite films increased gradually with the increasing contents of antimicrobial agents. In addition, composite films containing antibacterial agents had stronger inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus than E.coli.
