Evaluation of components and biological activities of Schisandra chinensis and Schisandra sphenanthera oil

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the volatile components and biological activities of Schisandra chinensis and Schisandra sphenanthera oil, which were extracted by supercritical CO2 fluid extraction from S.chinensis and S.sphenanthera.GC-MS and HPLC were used to analyze the components of S.chinensis and S.sphenanthera oil.The hypoglycemic activity was determined by the HepG2 cells insulin resistance model, and the antioxidant activity was measured by DPPH radical scavenging experiment.Results showed that the contents of schisandrin, schizandrin B, and fatty acids in S.chinensis extract were significantly higher than those of S.sphenanthera extract.The effect of S.sphenanthera extract on reducing insulin resistance was stronger than that of S.chinensis extraction.But it was the opposite result in the DPPH radical scavenging experiment.Therefore, the hypoglycemic effect of S.sphenanthera was better, while the antioxidant effect of S.chinensis was better.
