Sensory qualities,inorganic contents,organic components and cardiac glycosides,and antioxidant abilities of Apocynum venetum tea and Poacynum hendersonii tea from Yuli,Xinjiang province were compared.The tea leaves were killed out by microwave.Results showed that A.venetum tea had better aroma and higher mineral elements while P.hendersonii tea had higher contents of water extracts,free amino acids,polyphenol and total flavonoid,and its scavenging abilities against.OH and DPPH were also stronger;cardiac glycosides were not detected out in both teas.However,the heavy cuticles on the surface of P.hendersonii leaves affected the infusion of active substances.The total flavonoid contents in its infusions were far lower than those from A.venetum tea.This indicated that Poacynum hendersonii tea can substitute of A.venetum for healthy tea production if the processing method improved.
