Abstract

Two-phase fed-batch fermentation conditions for the production of 2-phenylethanol by Saccharomyces cerevisiae CWY132 in a molasses-based medium were studied. The 2-phenylethanol was obviously increased by fed-batch for molasses and L-phenylalanine in the Aqueous-polypropylene glycol two-phase culture.Under the optimized two-phase fed-batch conditions, the yield of 2-phenylethanol reached up to 9.03 g/L,increased by 87 % compared with the original 4.82 g/L.The molar conversion rate of L-phenylalanine to 2-phenylethanol rises to 0.82 mol/mol.
