Abstract

Circadian rhythm is a cycle that takes about 24 h as a cycle in most biological physiological processes. The reversal of day and night, aging and other factors will lead to the disorder of circadian rhythm. The circadian rhythm disorder of some special occupational groups and the elderly is often related to mental diseases, such as anxiety, depression, Alzheimer's disease, and so on. Studies have found that intestinal microbes can simultaneously affect circadian rhythm and mental health, while diet can affect intestinal microbes. Therefore, this article reviews the relationship between circadian rhythm, intestinal microbes and mental health, as well as the improvement of dietary intervention on rhythm disorders and neurological diseases, providing a new perspective for the pathogenesis and diagnosis and treatment of mental diseases.
